From Builder to Coach
I started my first company at 20 and sold it at 24. No degree. No safety net. Just the conviction that building something of my own would teach me more than any classroom ever could.
Over the next 20 years, I built 10 companies across e-commerce, manufacturing, digital marketing, and professional services. Exited four of them. Some succeeded wildly. Some failed in ways that were expensive and humbling. Every single one taught me something I still use today.
Those years were also the proving ground for a principle I now share often: "Success isn't just about what you have to do. It's also about who you have to become."
The pattern kept showing up in my own companies and in the founders I worked alongside. Talented people with great ideas who couldn't get out of their own way, or who couldn't stay in the fight long enough. Not because they lacked skill or drive. Because they lacked systems, clarity, and someone in their corner who'd already been where they were headed.
As a fractional CMO, I built and led marketing functions at multiple companies, driving millions in revenue. And the work that lit me up most was always the one-on-one conversations with founders. Helping them see the blind spots. Building the frameworks. Becoming the leaders their companies needed them to be.
That's what led me to coaching. Not a career change. A natural evolution of everything I'd already been doing for years. Today, I work with founders and CEOs who are serious about building something that lasts and becoming the person who can actually lead it.
